Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic Medicine emphasizes using natural approaches to help the body heal itself. The principles of Naturopathic medicine include: do no harm, the healing power of nature, identifying and treating the causes, the physician as teacher, treating the whole person and prevention.
Naturopathic Medicine encompasses many modalities and disciplines, including:
- Clinical assessments
- Laboratory analysis
- Botanical Medicine
- Nutrition
- Physical medicine
- Nutraceuticals
- Pharmaceuticals
- Minor surgery
- Diagnostic imaging
- Counseling
- Mind-body medicine
- Homeopathy
- Regenerative medicine
While training in naturopathy exists, seven accredited Naturopathic medical schools in North America include onsite and in-person direct clinical experience, leading to eligibility for licensure.
Dr. Nacarelli was trained in Naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University California, where he completed over 1,200 hours of direct patient contact at the Bastyr University Clinic. During this time, he also completed precepting hours at the Spark Natural Medicine clinic in Solana, CA, Lotus Rain Naturopathic Clinic in San Diego, CA and the Dr. Charlie Seltzer Lifestyle Medicine Clinic in Philadelphia, PA.
After becoming a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Nacarelli joined the Be The Change Wellness Clinic in Columbia, MD, before transitioning to SelfDecode, where he fuses elements of Naturopathic medicine with precision health. He is currently licensed as a Naturopathic Physician in the state of Vermont.
Multi Omics

Multiomics is a systems biology approach investigating the entire complement of specific biomolecules or the totality of molecular processes in an organism. These approaches can be used to provide further prognostic and diagnostic power when assessing the health of an individual or assessing response to treatment recommendations. This includes:
- Genomics
- Metabolomics
- Proteomics
- Transcriptomics
- Microbiomics
- Lipidomics
- Glycomics
Dr. Nacarelli has extensive training in multiomics from academic, research and clinical experiences. He has taken coursework in various omics disciplines during his master’s degree coursework at Johns Hopkins University and his PhD coursework and research at Clemson University.
He has also worked with metabolomic and genomic data for his PhD dissertation, analyzing the impact of polygenic risk scores on the association of fatty acids with the cardiovascular risk marker apoB. He also incorporates various types of multiomic testing when working with his clients. He currently performs multi omic consultations for Theriome.
Precision Functional Medicine

Precision functional medicine emphasizes health optimization through precise health assessments and recommendations targeting functional health domains and pathways. It is a multi disciplinary approach to medicine involving:
- Omic analysis
- Diet and nutrition assessments
- Laboratory testing
- Lifestyle analysis
- Environmental exposure assessments
- Biometric data utilization
- Psychosocial considerations
Dr. Nacarelli has extensive experience in precision functional medicine from his prior multidisciplinary academic training at Bastyr University, the Institute of Functional Medicine, Johns Hopkins University and Clemson University.
Dr. Nacarelli’s work experience at Theriome and Selfdecode involves training functional and integrative medicine practitioners on incorporating multi omics and precision medicine into clinical practice. He has created CEU-approved training programs at both Theriome and Selfdecode for training practitioners on incorporating multi omics and precision medicine into clinical practice.
